*Northampton, UK — October 2024*
The Challenge:
A group of brave team members from Intercounty Truck & Van took on an extraordinary challenge in October, descending 418 feet down the iconic Northampton Lift Tower in a daring abseil to raise funds for local Cransley Hospice. The event was a huge success, with the team raising an impressive £3,355 for the hospice, which provides vital care for patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
The abseiling challenge saw the team face their fears as they conquered the dizzying height of one of Northampton’s most recognisable landmarks. Standing at 418 feet, the Northampton Lift Tower is not for the faint of heart, but the group showed immense courage and determination as they made their way down the structure, supported by experienced professionals who ensured their safety throughout.
The Cause:
The funds raised by the team will go directly to Cransley Hospice, an organisation known for offering exceptional care to patients living with terminal illnesses and providing support to their families at the most challenging times. Cransley’s work, which includes everything from in-patient care to bereavement support, relies heavily on donations to continue its important services.
“What an amazing experience” said Adrian George, Van Sales Manager. “Not only did some of the group face and overcome incredible fears of heights, but we also had the opportunity to contribute to a cause that is so close to the hearts of many in our community. It was an unforgettable experience, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated.”
The team’s collective efforts have made a real difference, with funds set to support the hospice’s ongoing work in delivering compassionate care and providing vital resources to patients and their families.
“We were blown away by all of their fundraising efforts to reach this amount.,” said Cransley. “Not only have Intercounty supported us through challenge events like this one, but also volunteering their time to other events throughout the years, too. We’re so grateful for their ongoing support..”
The Intercounty team, who were motivated by both the challenge and the cause, have already begun thinking of future challenging events to continue supporting Cransley and ensuring its services remain accessible to all those in need.
