Our continued success means we are currently looking to recruit a MOT Class 4, 5 and 7 Service technician and MOT tester at our brand new Dunstable depot.

Key Purpose of the job

To support fleet Services in providing an effective and customer focused service through provision of high-quality MOT tests (Class 3, 4 and 7) , efficient inspections and support the maintenance and repairs on all vehicles and plant including specialist vehicles.

Acountabilities

To carry out routine maintenance on vehicles to prepare vehicles for the annual MOT inspection.

To carry out Classes 3, 4 and 7 of MOT tests to a high standard.

To ensure an excellent professional quality service to all customers, both internal and external, including their health, safety, and welfare whilst on site.

To complete the necessary recording of work undertaken on vehicles during inspection or whilst undergoing maintenance and repairs, both manually and electronically as technology advancement permits.

To provide supervision for Workshop Assistants – Apprentices.

To undertake any skills, product knowledge or legislative training and development activities as deemed necessary by the Council in order to maintain own professional development and enhance competence within the job role.

To make sure that all MOT equipment is well maintained and within calibration.

Skills & Experience required for the job

Possess a valid MOT Tester License

Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems

Ability to use power tools and hand tools effectively.

Capable of lifting heavy objects as required.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify faults or issues.

Strong communication skills to interact with customers and explain test results
