Yamaha WorldSBK Race Donington, UK

First win since Yamaha’s return to WorldSBK! And Michael Van Der Mark does the double!

"It was amazing to take the first victory for myself and, of course, the first victory for Yamaha since their return. They have been working on the project for three years now and it feels incredible to win at the team’s home race. The whole team did an amazing job and it was worth the wait." - Michael Van Der Mark

Between the 26th - 27th May 2018, history was made when Yamaha's return to the World Superbike race resulted in their first win since coming back from Algrave in 2011, and culmination of the hard work put in since the marque’s return in 2016. No non-British rider has won at Donington since 2012.

"Donington is our “home round” but the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team’s strength is in the partnership between Crescent Racing, Yamaha Motor, Europe’s support and technical development and the additional assistance from our Japanese Yamaha Motor colleagues." - Yamaha

As one of their sponsors, we were certainly very proud! Our Mercedes-Benz X-Class also made an appearance on the day, helping transport the famous superbikes from A to B, whilst attracting a lot of attention from all walks of life; from superbike champions, to local policemen, adolescents and of course, the general public who attended the event.

Rider Michael Van Der Mark was the first Dutch to win in the World Superbike, whilst Alex Lowes fought for the podium to the end and sets Race 2 pace!

"We have been working really hard to win - hopefully Michael’s is the first of many for the team and I’m sure I can be there soon! From my side, we struggled with the setting of the bike off the corners. Race 2 was also tough, despite leading for so long I had the same restriction where I could not maximise performance at the end, but even so we were very close to the podium." - Alex Lowes

A big well done to all the team and thank you for chosing us to sponsor you! It was a great pleasure. Visit Yamaha's website for more photos and information from the day.
